Driver & Outings / Activities Coordinator

Shift: 9:00 am - 5:30pm
Pay: $ 15 per hour or negotiable

Our client, is a nonprofit housing and mental health services corporation serving homeless chronically mentally ill (CMI) adults in Los Angeles County since 1987. Clientowns, leases and operates permanent apartment buildings, and permanent and transitional state licensed facilities which serve this vulnerable population.Our client is seeking a Driver & Outings / Activities Coordinator, with at least two years experience working with homeless CMI adults.

TRAINING-EDUCATION-EXPERIENCE: Specific skills must include the ability to communicate clearly using the English language, both verbally and in writing. BA/BS degree preferred, but must at least have a high school education and be able to submit adequate evidence and referral information of having had a safe driving record for a minimum of three years. Must possess a caring attitude and be sensitive to each client's needs. Must be able to understand and recognize signals of client de-compensation, and be able to effectively relate the information to the Facility Administrator, the Facility Manager, and to mental health services staff in the event a client needs to be hospitalized. Must be willing to attend additional training sessions throughout the year to increase knowledge of mental illness, and on the planning and provision of outings and activities to clients. Must possess an Activities Training Certificate. Position is full time, Monday through Friday, with hourly pay based on an 8-hour workday.

RESPONSIBILITIES: * Research, plan, coordinate, implement, supervise special outings and activities for clients within budget that must be pre-approved by Facility Administrator, in conjunction with mental health services staff, and based on clients overall schedules. Must work in capacity of on-line support staff for Facility Administrator and Residential Manager, reporting directly to Facility Administrator. * Provide client transportation to and from outings, activities and appointments; maintain logs of clients who attend; meet with and provide monthly reports to Facility Administrator. * Must be willing to work on weekend or holiday if needed to transport clients to another location that would accommodate clients during an emergency. * Must be able to monitor client participation during outings and activities specifically related to causes, courses and treatment of mental illness, medications, psycho-social rehabilitation, crises intervention and prevention. * Must be willing and able to liaison with clients Conservators and/or family members if requested, and/or as may be needed. * Must be willing to maintain leased van by regularly changing oil, checking fluid levels, rotating tires, checking brakes and tire pressure, and keeping the van clean.

WAGE AND BENEFITS: Wage is negotiable based on education, experience and budget constraints; benefits include contribution to medical and 401(k) plan; mileage reimbursement. ADDED JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must have excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills while developing and maintaining relations with clients and staff. Individual must allocate 85% of time in the provision of the above-described services to clients at housing owned and operated by the client
