Ideal applicants will have a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or equivalent with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
Position Summary
Full-time, Industrial Design position with 10XBeta, at New Lab, inside the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Candidate will be responsible for generating products and creative solutions for a wide range of innovation challenges. Both domestic and International travel will be required. Position includes paid vacation, sick, and personal days.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary design team, developing a wide range of products from single component consumer goods to complex automated assemblies.
Interface with clients throughout the project, defining the project needs, and keeping them up to date as the project progresses.
Perform form studies through sketching and renderings.
Build concept-level prototypes and foam model mockups
Stay up to date on new materials and process innovations, striving to deliver the best available solutions for each project.
Work with engineers and our manufacturing partners to maintain design intent as products are designed for manufacturing
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or equivalent
2-5 years direct experience designing consumer, medical, or industrial products
Understanding of how products are manufactured, and how to design around manufacturing limitations.
Competency in relevant 3D CAD; Rhino, Solidworks (preferred), Autodesk Inventor, and KeyShot.
Incredible hand sketching, Illustrator, and Photoshop abilities.
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate ideas, opinions, and recommendations to both the internal teams and our clients.
Technical outlook with creative, sophisticated aesthetic sensibility.
Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects across a variety of industries.
Comfortable working in a fabrication shop environment, building aesthetic prototypes, and proof of concept models.
Capable of leading and managing the project and product through to completion.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
