You balance technical and aesthetic considerations while staying up-to-date with emerging techniques, technologies, and materials.

Ideal applicants will have a Bachelor’s degree in Software/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with three to five years of relevant experience.

Position Summary
Full-time Creative Technologist position with 10XBeta, at New Lab, inside the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Candidate will be responsible for generating new and relevant products with creative solutions for a wide range of innovation challenges. Using technology driven solutions with creative sensibilities, candidate will elevate products through seamlessly integrate software with hardware. Both domestic and International travel will be required. Position includes paid vacation, sick, and personal days.

Responsibilities

Stay up to date on new technologies and innovations, striving to deliver the best available solutions for each project, using both creative and technical skills.

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary design team, developing a wide range of products from single component consumer goods to complex automated assemblies.

Design hardware and software for mass-produced products, maintaining design intent, cost targets, and performance requirements.

Create production-ready PCB layouts, including schematics, Gerber files, and bill of materials.


Lead client meetings around technical feasibility and develop ideas for potential solutions quickly.

Develop prototype electronics in-house to test feasibility, determine system requirements and analyze design performance.


Requirements

3-5 years’ experience developing consumer products, machinery, or medical devices.

Expert in software development for hardware products including initial proofs-of-concept and scalable software solutions for mass-produced products.

Comfortable programming in a variety of languages including those appropriate for embedded electronics as well as web front-end and back-end technologies (C, C++, Python, Javascript, HTML, and CSS).

In-depth knowledge of various analog and digital sensors available in the market.

Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects across a variety of industries.

Experienced working in a fabrication shop environment, building test circuits, working prototypes, and proof of concept software.

Must have a growth mindset and be open to learn and experiment with new technologies as projects require.

Experience working with robotics, BLE, LoRa, and computer vision is a plus.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to present complex ideas clearly to a non-technical audience.
